Michael Fassbender: Steve McQueen's Twelve Years A Slave Sets December Release Date Author: Katey Rich (CINEMA BLEND)

When Michael Fassbender first got international attention as an actor, it was for his gripping lead turn in the Steve McQueen-directed drama Hunger. When Michael Fassbender's private parts got even more international attention, it was for his lead turn in the Steve McQueen-directed drama Shame. And now even though Fassbender is off starring int he likes of Prometheus and X-Men: Days of Future Past, Fassbender is staying loyal to the director who gave him his big break-- and finally we know when the next collaboration between them will be revealed.

Though don't get too excited about Fassbender's performace-- for the first time McQueen is directing a film without Fassbender in the lead, hiring Chiwetel Ejiofor to lead the historical drama Twelve Years A Slave. Based on the true story of Solomon Northrup, a free black man sold into slavery in the pre-Civil War South, Twelve Years A Slave is coming to theaters on December 27, according to a tweet from distributor Fox Searchlight. Ejiofor is playing Northrup, and McQueen has brought in a serious cast to back him up-- Brad Pitt is on board to act as well as produce, rising stars Paul Dano, Adepero Oduye and Scoot McNairy have roles, and even little Quvenzhane Wallis, fresh off her Best Actress nomination, has a role. Fassbender is back with McQueen, of course, and if your heart can handle it, Benedict Cumberbatch has found his way on board as well.

"It’s great. It’s really good and strong. I think fans will love it. I think people who have never seen any of the X-Men films before are going to be really into it.

Michael Fassbender gets close to mystery blonde in a plunging outfit on the pavement outside a London club By LUCY BUCKLAND (MAIL ON LINE)

He is one of Hollywood's hottest bachelors and it seems one blonde certainly couldn't wait to get her claws into Michael Fassbender.

Prometheus star Fassbender, 35, was seen leaving the Groucho club in London with a mystery blonde - and although the actor tried to hide his handsome face with a dirty basketball hat as he left, he couldn't help but be recognised.

Heartthrob Fassbender, who split from Shame co-star Nicole Beharie in January after a disastrous couple's holiday, looked to be wasting no time charming the young blonde in the street.

But after being spotted by movie fans Fassbender turned away from his flirting partner and appeared to walk off.

The charming actor's love interest looked slightly put off by his actions, although it is not known if they exchanged numbers.

Michael Fassbender Exits Natalie Portman's 'Jane Got a Gun' (Exclusive) 6:39 PM PDT 3/11/2013 by Borys Kit (THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER)

Jude Law now will play the villain as Joel Edgerton shifts to the hero role in the high-profile Western.

Michael Fassbender, who was to have played the male lead in the Natalie Portman-led Western, has exited the movie, while Joel Edgerton, who was on board to play the villain, will step into the hero role.

Jude Law, in the meantime, has signed on for the villain, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

The moves come a couple weeks before the start of shooting in New Mexico. Colin Firth, Michael Fassbender's 'Genius' Sells Around the World (Exclusive) 8:17 AM PST 2/7/2013 by Pamela McClintock (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER)

The film recounts the real-life relationship between literary giant Thomas Wolfe and renowned editor Max Perkins.

BERLIN -- Colin Firth and Michael Fassbender's Genius -- based on A. Scott Berg's National Book Award-winning biography Max Perkins: Editor of Genius -- is sparking avid interest among independent distributors.

FilmNation has sold the film in a raft of key foreign territories, including to The Weinstein Co. in the U.K., Australia and New Zealand.

There's no word on whether TWC will buy U.S. rights, but Harvey Weinstein's shop would be a natural fit for Genius, having released the Oscar best picture The King's Speech, for which Firth won the Oscar for best actor. TWC is one of the most aggressive players in the awards space, and Genius could well be a contender considering its pedigree.

Genius recounts the real-life relationship between literary giant Thomas Wolfe (Fassbender) and renowned editor Max Perkins (Firth), who developed a tender, complex friendship that changed the lives of both men forever.

Michael Fassbender: SHAME trailer (a great movie!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=24cjqfVv1fs#!

SHAME was a great film, not at all what I was expecting.  Rather it was heartbreaking and Michael Fassbender should have been nominated for an Oscar portraying this man's desperate struggle.

Michael Fassbender visits Life's Too Short set Source: Bang Showbiz (THE LIST)

Michael Fassbender shocked the cast of British sitcom ‘Life’s Too Short’ by arriving on set to watch his close pal Val Kilmer film a cameo appearance.

Michael Fassbender visited the ‘Life’s Too Short’ set.

The Hollywood actor has been hanging out behind the scenes of Warwick Davis, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s BBC Two sitcom after being invited by Val Kilmer, who has a cameo role on the show’s last episode.

A source told DigitalSpy: “Fassbender and Kilmer were just hanging out with everyone on set and really enjoying themselves.

“It was amazing to see these Hollywood stars on the same set as the show’s British TV stars like Les Dennis, Keith Chegwin and Shaun Williamson.”

Val reportedly asked producers whether he could bring a friend along and the cast and crew were gobsmacked when the high profile ‘Shame’ actor turned up.

MICHAEL FASSBENDER: An apology

By
Karen Wasylowski

I posted an article here that claimed Michael Fassbender had been after some woman.  (He's a young, single, handsome man.  How dare he.)  There has been no other article remarking on this event so it was probably a false report and I apologize to the man.  I don't usually post articles about an actor's personal life, unless they are in a positive light.  These men and women are entitled to a personal life and what they do, or any mistakes they may make, are entirely their own business and all part of being human.

I had one commenter on this article and very rightly she took me to task.  I apologize to her as well.  She is clearly a fan of his and was offended.  I don't know what gets into us.  I am no better than the other scumbags at times, who make up stories when they can't find dirt.  Nothing new was being reported about Michael Fassbender, and believe me I was looking - he's so good and so popular that to feature him gets a mass of hits on the blog, and that's what I want.  So I saw this article and jumped on it, the same as all the rest.  I had second and third doubts but put it up anyway even though, frankly, it sounded absurd to me.

Constantly reading these articles I think I've gotten quite good at finding the truth nuggets in between what their publicists spew out when they are hawking movies (the publicists, not the actors).  From what I can glean about Michael Fassbender he seems committed to his craft and is truly in love with acting.  Many of the better actors are in love with acting, not with the media.  They put up with the media.  If he mentions that he likes a woman and someone overhears it, the item gets sold for lots of money and his privacy is breached once again.  But he loves acting so he is polite and maybe retreats a little further away from the limelight causing gossip writers to search even harder for dirt.  It is a vicious cycle but one I don't want to step into again.

So, I apologize to Michael, even though he'll never know it, and I apologize to his fan - Anonymous.  I'll try and do better.

Benedict Cumberbatch: Brilliant ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Fan Art For Benedict Cumberbatch’s John Harrison (FLICKS AND BITS)

Natural Shocks has drawn this stunning graphite pencil drawing of Benedict Cumberbatch as John Harrison in ‘Star Trek into Darkness.’ Head on over to Natural Shocks deviantART or tumblr to feast your eyes on more top-notch artwork. In related ‘Star  Trek Into Darkness’ news, I’ve also posted four hi-res pics from the film that first arrived online in low-res/watermarked form. Set for release on May 17th (May 15th in IMAX), ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ is directed by J.J. Abrams with a script by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof. Abrams is producing with Bryan Burk through Bad Robot Productions, along with Lindelof, Kurtzman and Orci.

Besides the briefest of glimpses of his Smaug the Dragon in ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,’ Benedict Cumberbatch can next be seen on the big screen in ‘Star Trek into Darkness,’ alongside the likes of Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Michael Kenneth Williams, Ruth Negga, Brad Pitt, Quvenzhané Wallis and Adepero Oduye in Steve McQueen’s ‘Twelve Years a Slave,’ and as Julian Assange in ‘The Fifth Estate.’ Steve Moffat, the co-conceiver, producer and screenwriter of BBC’s ‘Sherlock,’ recently revealed that the third ‘Sherlock’ series would begin production shortly, reuniting Cumberbatch as the eponymous Sherlock Holmes with his fellow ‘The Hobbit’ star, Martin Freeman, as Dr. John Watson. The actor is also said to be in negotiations to play the English mathematician Alan Turing in ‘The Imitation Game.’
