Actor Tom Hiddleston is one of Britain’s hottest Hollywood exports — but he is eyeing a return to the West End stage to keep his skills honed.

The star, set to reprise his role as Loki in Thor: The Dark World, says his north London flat’s kitchen table is groaning under the weight of theatre scripts.

Hiddleston, 32, always kept one toe in the West End during his rapid rise, with his last outing being The Kingdom of Earth at the Criterion Theatre last year.

He said: “My table in the kitchen is where I work and read scripts — and it’s literally littered with plays right now. I’m on different, modern things, American classics, Shakespeare, Jacobean stuff. I really want to find something big and meaty and exciting.

“Theatre tests you. It stops you being insecure with the film set idea of action and cut.

Tom Hiddleston Joins 'The Muppets 2' as the Great Escapo Shhhhh, don't tell anyone... it's a secret. BY: BRAD BREVET PUBLISHED: SUNDAY, MARCH 24TH 2013 AT 8:50 PM

It would appear one bit of casting for the upcoming The Muppets sequel, The Muppets... Again!, that was meant to be kept secret has leaked out as the blog Muppets Henson (via Bleeding Cool) noticed on Tom Hiddleston's client page at Hamilton Hodell included a note he would star in the film as the Great Escapo.

The page has since been updated after the news leaked but Tumblr blog Taste of Hiddles grabbed the following screen capture confirming the news.

Unfortunately there is no additional character information, but feel free to speculate.

Speaking to the excellent people over at Red Carpet News TV (via CBM) at the opening of Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, and Matt Stone’s ’The Book of Mormon’ in London, Tom Hiddleston shared some details about Marvel’s upcoming ‘Thor’ sequel, ‘Thor: The Dark World,’ where the actor reprises his role of Loki, Thor’s adopted brother. On the topic of what fans can expect tonally from ‘Thor: The Dark World’ with a new director (Alan Taylor) at the helm, Hiddleston said, “What can I say… I just want to reassure you that it’s going to be great. And it’s darker in every respect I suppose, in tone, and Alan Taylor’s vision was tremendous. It’s really hard to say, I wish I could tell you but I kind of want to hold it back so that it’s new when you see it, you know? I know that it will be exciting but I’m not going to say too much.”

With Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth cultivating a great dynamic between Loki and Thor in both ‘Thor’ and ‘The Avengers,’ Hiddleston was asked if ‘Thor: The Dark World’ will see a change of dynamic at all, “There’s a development. Tom Hiddleston wants to work with Daniel Day-Lewis

Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the South Bank Sky Arts Awards 2013, where he picked up the Times Breakthrough Award, Tom said: ''I'd love to have a chance, even a chance, of trying to work with Daniel Day-Lewis because I admire him so much. I am so intrigued. He's always inspired me.

''Just the commitment he takes on every time he chooses to work and kind of what he chooses. You can always see this. He gives 110%.''

The 31-year-old actor - whose CV includes 'War Horse' and 'The Hollow Crown' - once had the chance to meet his idol and ruined the moment by ''gushing'' about how much he loved his work.

He reminisced: ''I met him once, a couple of years ago. It was long before I'd made a film and I was working in theatre and I happened to be somebody's plus one [to an event]. I stopped him on the stairs as I had to tell him he's one of the greatest things; being an actor.

''He said, in his beautiful English/Irish [accent], 'Thank you so much, it means a lot, thank you so much'. It was basically me gushing about how much I loved 'In the Name of the Father' and 'The Last of the Mohicans'.''

Tom Hiddleston is one of the most exciting British actors who has enjoyed success on the big screen, TV as well as delivering great performances on the stage.

After kicking off his career TV he has moved into film with Thor being his major breakthrough.

The role of Loki really kick started things and he has since gone on to star in Midnight in Paris, The Deep Blue Sea, War Horse and the incredibly successful Avengers Assemble.

He is now one of the most in demand actors and we are going to be seeing him in London Project, Thor: The Dark World and Only Lovers Left Alive.

We are big fans of Tom Hiddleston here at FemaleFirst and he is just going to get bigger and better roles over the next couple of years.

- Benedict Cumberbatch

Another actor that everyone seems to be talking about at the moment is the fantastic Benedict Cumberbatch - and 2013 is set to be the biggest year of his career to date.

He really grabbed everyone's attention with the lead role in Sherlock Holmes for the BBC, even though he did kick off his acting career in 2002.

We have seen him in movies such as War Horse and Tinker Tailor Solider Spy in recent years but his big screen career is going to explode this summer.

Cumberbatch is the big addition to the cast list of Star Trek Into Darkness as he plays the role of John Harrison.

He has also completed work on Twelve Years A Slave and he is also set to take on the role of Smaug in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and There and Back Again.

He is currently filming The Fifth Estate where he will play Julian Assange.

Tom Hiddleston Talks Chris Eccleston as Malekith the Accursed in ‘Thor 2′ 5 hours ago by Rob Frappier (SCREEN RANT)

As someone who has played the villain in both Thor and The Avengers, nobody knows what it’s like to be a Marvel bad guy better than Tom Hiddleston (A.K.A. Loki, Thor’s spiteful brother).

So when Hiddleston weighed in on Christopher Eccleston’s performance as Malekith the Accursed in Thor: The Dark World, we were interested to hear what he had to say.

In a recent interview with Red Carpet News TV (which comes to us via Comic Book Movie), Hiddleston was effusive in his praise of Eccleston and hinted at the complex relationship between Loki and Malekith. Check out the key responses below:

“Christopher Eccleston is one of Britain’s greatest actors, he brings a degree of commitment, intelligence, conviction and complexity to everything he does. I think he really got his teeth into this thing [playing Malekith]. It’s hard to say anything without giving away too much. Christopher has enormous presence, which is very distinguishable on stage as well as film. It’s one of those things you can’t really define, you just can’t stop watching him when he’s on screen. I think he’ll be absolutely magnetic [in the movie]. Malekith has his own ambition. Whether or not Loki can coincide with or contradict, subvert or enhance that ambition remains to be seen.”

Okay, so we can’t read much into this interview because it’s not like Hiddleston is going to bash one of his co-stars. However, the way that Hiddleston hesitated before talking about the relationship between Loki and Malekith raises some interesting questions.

It's safe to say Hollywood heavyweight Jeremy Irons and his Irish wife Sinead Cusack are rock solid. The high profile couple made a rare public outing together at the prestigious South Bank Sky Arts Awards at The Dorchester in London last night, and after 34 years together, looked as happy as ever.

Jeremy has been incredibly honest about their marriage in the past, describing their relationship as "dysfunctional", and they are believed to be in an open relationship. The couple have often been photographed kissing and cuddling in public.

The high brow ceremony saw Jeremy as one of the guests on honour alongside his Tony award nominated wife. Actor James McAvoy was also in attendance alongside Anne Marie Duff, Richard E Grant, Grayson Perry,  Felicity Kendall and Akram Khan.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston win new awards and their loyal fan armies rejoice (Gazette)

British actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston have both won awards at the South Bank Sky Arts Awards, Tuesday, March 12, 2013, in London.

Strictly speaking, Cumberbatch’s award was an indirect one. He starred in Parade’s End, which won the Best TV Drama Award. Would it have done so if he were not in it? Would it have garnered as many viewers?

I don’t think so, and neither does Susanna White, who directed the series. She told Britain’s Radio Times:  “I think Benedict is one of the finest actors of his generation. And we were really lucky to get him because without him, Parade’s End would be nothing like it is.”

Parade’s End is set in the days before, during and after World War I and is based on a series of novels by Ford Madox Ford. It can be still be seen on HBO and HBO Canada. (Click to see the HBO schedule, or the HBO Canada schedule.)

As for Tom Hiddleston, The Guardian reported that he: “. . .picked up the Times breakthrough award for his acting in The Hollow Crown and films including War Horse and Avengers Assemble.”

The Hollow Crown was a four-part BBC series of Shakespeare’s plays: Richard II; Henry IV, Part 1; Henry IV, Part 2; Henry V. Tom Hiddleston was in all of them except for Richard II. He played Prince Hal, son of Henry IV, and then went on to play Henry V. The series was shown in Britain in 2012 as part of that country’s Olympic celebrations, and will be shown on PBS in the U.S. (much) later this year.

Hiddleston played the troubled villain Loki (fangirls love to love him) in Thor and the film that’s simply known as The Avengers in other countries.  It’s called Avengers Assemble in Britain to distinguish it from the TV series that starred Diana Rigg and Patrick Macnee. (Oh! The Internet says that Macnee is 91. Bravo! )

Tom Hiddleston looks up to Daniel Day-Lewis (FAN SHARE)

Tom Hiddleston is slowly starting to build an impressive resume for himself in Hollywood, but he admits that there's no one he looks up to more than Daniel Day-Lewis. The Thor 2 star recently won the Best Breakthrough at the South Bank Sky Art Awards, but he has maintained that he has a long way to go before he's in the league of actors like Day-Lewis.

While discussing his recently wrapped films, including Thor 2 and Only Lovers Left Alive, Hiddleston admitted that he's trying to find theater work next. He explains that he's sifting through scripts, saying, "I always try to stay true to a code about choosing work. I never want to just do a job for a job's sake, I want to do it because it is something I believe in."

Tom Hiddleston continues to prove that he’s an amazing human being as he blogs about his recent trip to Guinea in West Africa. Hiddleton recently went on a trip to Guinea sponsored by UNICEF UK, and after he returned, he's been writing about how his life has changed since the trip.

Many have said this before me; and many will say it after me. It's still true....I am no saviour. I'm absolutely the last person on the planet who can practically help. I don't know how to make the different types of therapeutic feeding milk. I'm no chemist. I'm no doctor. I'm no engineer. I can't manufacture polio vaccines or organise their transportation to the health centres in Saramoussayah or Bissikirima..."

So that’s it.

I’m back in London. I am back in my home. Back amid the hustle and the bustle. Back amid the humdrum and the mayhem and the madness. Back to running water and the warmth of central heating. Back to a bed without a mosquito net. Back to food in the fridge and food in the cupboard and food around the corner in the supermarket.

I’ve seen things I have never seen before.

When I started writing this blog, I talked of life in Guinea as a "jigsaw puzzle, one where the pieces keep moving or changing shape, which in turn alters the picture. You might be looking at it from a different angle, or at a different time of day". On my first night, Julien had suggested an idea of reality in Guinea as "open to interpretation". In so many respects, that is true of all life. The view always changes with the viewer. That’s the law of relativity.

Here’s what’s not open to interpretation. Every year in the world more than two million children die of hunger. It shouldn’t be like this. Children in Guinea start life at a severe disadvantage. Those that are malnourished may survive in the end. If they are caught in time. If their mothers respond to symptoms early enough; if they make it to the centre de santé, which is often miles away; if they respond to the therapeutic peanut paste, and special therapeutic feeding milk. If their parents are able to grow crops and feed them with enough nutritious foods so they can keep healthy. If they win the fight against malaria. If they live near a good school. If they can get work. If their parents can protect them from exploitation by the military. If they are lucky. Previously malnourished children can make it. It sounds paradoxical to say it, but they are the lucky ones.
