Diana Rigg, Ciaran Hinds: 'Game of Thrones:' A Look at Season 3's New Faces and Characters (YAHOO)

By Carrie Bell | Yahoo! TV – Mon, Mar 25, 2013 1:03 PM PDT

The cast dishes on Ciaran Hinds, Diana Rigg, and (spoiler!) a giant arriving in Westeros this season.

Helen Sloan/HBO - Mance Raydar (Ciaran Hinds) and Lady Olenna Tyrell (Diana Rigg) in "Game of Thrones" Season 3.

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains storyline and character spoilers for the third season of "Game of Thrones."

With 27 series regulars and hundreds of guest stars, day players, and extras wandering in and out of Westeros and points beyond, keeping track of who's who on "Game of Thrones" is almost as big a feat as planning the Battle of Blackwater Bay. That task isn't going to get any easier when Season 3, which was shot by three units across five countries and promises plenty of fresh faces, begins March 31 on HBO.

Arguably, the most major addition to the cast was Ciaran Hinds. One, his resumé is as respected as Tywin Lannister's and almost as long as the feared coming winter, with "Rome," "Harry Potter," "Political Animals," and "There Will Be Blood" among the highlights. Two, he is portraying Mance Rayder, the ex-Night's Watchman who united 90 clans into one Wildling army currently moving in on the Wall. Rose Leslie (Ygritte) admitted at the junket last week in Beverly Hills to being a tad starstruck as "we've been watching him from a young age. Phenomenal."

Kit Harington, whose Jon Snow is trying to infiltrate the camp and must get Rayder to trust him, was also in awe. "He's a wonderful, wonderful man, and for someone who hadn't read the books and hadn't even seen the show when he joined and did his first few scenes, he nailed the character. That's the mark of the man's genius and genius of the writing."

The "CBGB" movie is on slate for a 2013 arrival, so it's only right that there's a new poster for the film.

With the tagline "50,000 bands. One disgusting bathroom," the image displays the film's leading actors, to tell the story of New York's most infamous punk club. Alan Rickman stars as Hilly Kristal, CBGB's founder; Rupert Grint is on hand as Cheetah Chrome (Rocket From the Crypt); Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins takes up the mic as Iggy Pop; Malin Ackerman plays Blondie's Debbie Harry; Ashley Greene as Hilly's daughter Lisa; and more. Randall Miller ("Bottle Shock," "Nobel Son," "Houseguest") is directing.

The official synopsis for DUST is as follows: "TODD, a 60-something loner with a twitch, follows young JESSICA (7) and her MUM home from school. Emily Blunt Replaces Emma Watson In Your Voice In My Head 1 Comment published: 2013-03-12 11:09:14 Author: Sean O'Connell (CINEMA BLEND)

So, Emma’s out and Emily’s in. The story follows writer/journalist Emma Forrest as she develops a relationship with a New York therapist (played by Tucci). Harry Potter director David Yates is on board to helm the adaptation, which is part of the reason why we believed Watson would be a great choice. No word on why she passed on the part, though Blunt’s an outstanding reserve for any role, if you can get her. We’ll find out if the casting change affects when we might see Voice in theaters. More on that as it develops.

Alan Rickman: This Sunday’s Podcast – An Educational Conversation with Alan Rickman Post Date: 9 March 2013 (STAR TALK)

Alan volunteered an interesting, science-fictional approach to customize teaching to the unique needs of individuals (with a bit of science magic thrown in, too) which, after all, shouldn’t be surprising coming from an actor who has played a Professor of Potions at Hogwarts in the Harry Potter series, a pioneering heart surgeon in Something the Lord Made and a Shakespearean actor playing a Science Officer on Galaxy Quest’s starship, the NSEA Protector.

Just a note for anyone who already watched some of this interview on The Nerdist Channel: there’s more content in Part 1 and Part 2 than made it into the video, so I recommend you check the podcast out, too. (Stay tuned for Part 2 on March 24th.)

Part 1 of the interview will be available on our website and iTunes tomorrow night, Sunday, March 10th, at 7:00pm ET.

That’s it for now. Keep Looking Up!

–Jeffrey Simons

Emma Watson In Talks To Star In Kenneth Branagh's Cinderella comments published: 2013-02-28 19:52:38 Author: Kelly West (CINEMA BLEND)

Tonight seems to be the night for Harry Potter stars in talks to play classic roles. Earlier, we shared news that Daniel Radcliffe was in final negotiations to play Igor in Fox's Frankenstein-inspired feature, and now comes word that Emma Watson is in talks to star in Kenneth Branagh's take on Cinderella for Disney. (Coincidentally, Branagh starred in and directed an adaptation of Frankenstein in 1994.)

Variety reports that Watson is in "very early talks" with Disney to play the lead in a live action adaptation of Cinderella, to be directed by Kenneth Branagh. Mark Romanek was previously set to helm the film, which is based on a script by Aline Bosh McKenna, rewritten by Chris Weitz. Should Watson lock down the role, she'll be starring opposite Cate Blanchett, who's on board to play the wicked stepmother.
