Henry Cavill: Major 'Man Of Steel' Rumor/Spoiler Looks Like It Might Be True NEWS BY KEVIN JAGERNAUTH (INDIEWIRE)
We shouldn't have to tell you, but fair warning and don't cry if you keep on reading past this: there will be major spoilers below. If you don't want "Man Of Steel" ruined for the love of God stop reading right here.
With that preamble out of the way, it just a day or so ago that writer David S. Goyer was deflecting questions about whether or not a female version of Jimmy Olsen or baddie Lex Luthor would be appearing in the Christopher Nolan produced, Zack Snyder directed "Man Of Steel." He would neither confirm nor deny, so of course, that just set the geeks to dig harder, and over at AICN, it seems they've put together the puzzle pieces that indeed seem to reveal that Lex Luthor will have some kind of appearance in the Superman movie.

Henry Cavill & Michael Shannon Talk ‘Man Of Steel,’ Superman & General Zod (FLICKS AND BITS)
Speaking to Total Film Magazine (quotes via CBM) for their “Heroes and Villains” cover story on ‘Man of Steel,’ both Henry Cavill (Superman/Clark Kent) and Michael Shannon (General Zod) shed some light on Zack Snyder’s much anticipated Superman reboot. ”Having gone to boarding school, I didn’t have a comic-book store nearby,” Cavill said when asked whether or not he grew up a fan of the iconic DC superhero. “But as soon as I was cast in the movie, that’s when I got my full, real introduction to Superman.” After plenty of reading and watching a pile of box sets, Cavill finally felt as if he had a good grip on the character. “I managed to piece together this character, maintaining that baseline and having all differences and nuances that our script adds. This is our own thing, Stand-alone. It’s about Superman, but we’re not copying from any one comic book in particular. And that’s a good thing, because its an origin-story.”
On the topic of General Zod, Michael Shannon said, “He’s not a villain. He’s not a villain any more than any other General fighting to protect his people. He doesn’t like to just hurt people and steal diamonds; he’s focused on being successful at his job.” Unlike Henry Cavill, Shannon didn’t look to the past for inspiration, saying instead that he wants to take this version of the character in a different direction altogether. “I think the way Terrence Stamp approached it – and this isn’t any kind if criticism of his performance – there was something kind of detached about it. Pure, hatred, rage, whatever… I think this [characterisation] is more ambiguous.” As for General Zod’s suit in ‘Man of Steel,’ Shannon emphasises that motion capture technology was necessary as, “the real thing would probably crush me.” Pick up the latest issue of Total Film Magazine for more from Cavill and Shannon about ‘Man of Steel.’

HENRY CAVILL: Man Of Steel EARLY Review - Henry Cavill IS Superman By: Scott Johnson on March 5, 2013 (COMIC BOOK)
As far as Henry Cavill’s performance, the reviewer states, “Henry Cavill is Superman to me now. I like his take on the character. I don’t really care necessarily how Superman/Clark Kent is in the comics. But Henry has a really good performance and brings a new Superman for the modern era. One who is powerful, strong, and inhumane in ability, yet also relatable and earns our sympathy.
Ever since Man of Steel started doing test screenings, early reviews have started leaking out. All the reviews seem to have one thing in common. They are all extremely positive. In fact, Nikki Finke of Deadline slipped in her own feedback on the Man of Steel in a post about Jack the Giant Slayer bombing. In mentioning upcoming movies, Finke referenced, “the hotly anticipated Man Of Steel which by many accounts overdelivers. (That’s the buzz following its first internal screening.)” We assume overdelivers is meant to be a good thing and that she isn’t criticizing the movie for being too good.
Another new anonymous review also recently showed up on a message board. Here are some spoiler free highlights. According to the reviewer, who professes to not being a comics fan, “The movie is good, and entertaining. I don’t think I’ll use hyperbole of calling it the best movie of the year two months in, but it’s a top five, if not top three, superhero movie.” The reviewer also adds, ” I think this is the best live action version of Superman and it does a great job of making him feel relatable.”
